Ants and Ant control in Iowa Black Carpenter Ants
Black in color 6to 12 mm in length. Feed on sweets, meat, and grease. Nests are found in decayed wood and debris. They do not feed on wood but excavate to make nests. Professional control should be sought to ensure eradication. Residuals and dusting are necessary. Large Carpenter ants are especially important because they will cause damage to homes and structures. When homes are sold, wood destroying insect inspections are performed and if carpenter ants or carpenter ant damage is found, the home will have to be professionally treated
